Bigger, Bolder Dick’s Sporting Goods Coming to Millcreek Mall

It’s a famous name in sporting goods that’s already a popular destination at the Millcreek Mall Complex.  It is about to get even better.  Construction is now underway on an all-new DICK’S Sporting Goods in a space formerly occupied by the Bon Ton department store.  The new 60,000 square foot store is approximately 8,000 square feet larger than the current DICK’S location in the Millcreek Pavilion section of the complex.  It will incorporate the newest generation of fixtures, designs and branding.  The new store is tentatively scheduled to open in the summer of 2023.

Most notably, the new DICK’S also will offer a 20,000 sq. ft. outdoor turf field and running track attached to the store. When it opens later this year, it will host open play, fitness and sports clinics, and practices for athletes of all ages. In the winter months, the field will convert to an ice skating rink and offer open skate, skating lessons, stick and puck drills, and games.  This new outdoor field/rink will also allow customers to “try out” new equipment before making their purchases.

The Millcreek Mall Complex is located on upper Peach Street and Interstate 79 in Millcreek Township, near Erie, Pennsylvania.  It has been serving the community since 1975 and has been expanded and renovated numerous times, keeping it up-to-date with current regional mall uses, trends and occupancies. The complex currently comprises more than 2 million square feet of shopping, lodging, dining and entertainment.  For more information, visit www.millcreekmall.net.  Millcreek Mall Complex is owned and managed as part of the Cafaro family of companies, based in Niles, Ohio.  To learn more about the Cafaro organization, go to www.cafarocompany.com.

DICK’S Sporting Goods was founded in 1948 when an 18-year-old Dick Stack opened a bait-and-tackle shop in Binghamton, New York.  Today, DICK’S, headquartered in Pittsburgh, is the leading omnichannel retailer serving athletes and outdoor enthusiasts in more than 850 locations.  DICK’S Sporting Goods is also the parent company to Golf Galaxy, Field & Stream, Public Lands, Going Going Gone!, Warehouse Sale stores, online and the DICK’S mobile app. DICK’S also owns and operates DICK’S House of Sport, Golf Galaxy Performance Center and GameChanger, a youth sports mobile app for scheduling, communications, live scorekeeping and video streaming.  To learn more about this preeminent sporting goods retailer, visit online at www.dickssportinggoods.com.

Celebrating the Survivors

The battle against breast cancer is grim and all too common in our nation.  That is why it is heartening to know that more women than ever are surviving that battle.  On Sunday, October 22, Eastwood Mall will host a Survivor Recognition Ceremony with Zeta Tau Alpha and CheerTime Athletics, in partnership with Hot 101-FM. The ceremony will take place at noon in the mall’s Center Court.

This is a special opportunity for breast cancer survivors of our community to unite and celebrate with members of the community.  They will enjoy special performances honoring local survivors, a recognition walk and survivor gifts.  In order to register as a survivor, email Kim at ztacheerclassicregister@gmail.com .

Zeta Tau Alpha is a national sorority whose philanthropy is breast cancer education and awareness. One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, so this cause is often personal. Breast cancer touches many lives.  Through local and national partnerships, campus and community initiatives, and the distribution of millions of pink ribbons since 1992, ZTA collegiate and alumnae members are dedicated to this philanthropy.

The Eastwood Mall Complex is located at 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road, in Niles, Ohio.  It is one of America’s largest shopping complexes, with more than 200 department stores, specialty shops, restaurants, hotels and entertainment options.  The Eastwood Mall Complex is owned and managed in association with Cafaro-affiliated companies, based in Niles, Ohio. For more information, visit online at: www.eastwoodmall.com and www.cafarocompany.com.
